Ireland outperforms again, but in the wrong direction

Anna, Ciara and Tom look at the climate news this week and even find some good news. There may be some rants.

Eurostat has reported that EU emissions are down year over year, but Ireland is bucking the trend, with emissions going up. Why does the Minister for Environment dismiss the numbers? Ciara continues to work towards her Masters in Economics as she answers that question.

We're seeing action being taken against Greenwashing in the EU and UK, but again Ireland is slow to act.

Actions we suggest for this week:

Watch some of the sessions from the European Parliament Beyond Growth conference, (in particular Kate Raworth, Jason Hickel) Beyond Growth 2023 Conference

Consider writing to your local TDs and government representatives about Ireland needing to do better on emissions. You can find inspiration in this letter to government from The Climate Change Advisory Council.

Go and buy some grub from a local Irish food producer: https://www.irishexaminer.com/food/arid-40902212.html

Get into nature and volunteer at a Hometree tree planting day, two opportunities every month!
